1993-1997年,水下光測量和Monte-Carlo模擬。開發(fā)了一個光纖儀器系統(tǒng),可以測量太陽照射下自然水體中的非彈性散射(Raman散射,葉綠素和CDOM熒光)。第一次實現(xiàn)了以被動方式測量自然環(huán)境中水分子的Raman散射,并獲得Ocean Optics XIII的最佳學(xué)者論文獎。
1998年至今,海洋遙感:從理論.儀器.算法到應(yīng)用。工作主要集中于通過各種平臺,包括船載.機(jī)載和星載傳感器,進(jìn)行海岸帶海色遙感研究。主要成就有:針對生物光學(xué)測量的現(xiàn)場儀器(flow-through系統(tǒng).測量水面上反射比的儀器.測量協(xié)約)的開發(fā);星載傳感器與現(xiàn)場傳感器的定標(biāo);海色傳感器在混濁的沿岸水域,以及Landsat在淺水的大氣校正算法的開發(fā);對海色衛(wèi)星傳感器的生物光學(xué)反演算法的改進(jìn)與應(yīng)用;應(yīng)用這些改進(jìn)的算法來研究海洋現(xiàn)象,包括河流羽狀分布水體(他們分散路徑和各種成分的強(qiáng)度).海岸的流出.陰影水體事件.赤潮.沉積羽狀水體.海色異常.珊瑚礁環(huán)境健康狀況.和初級生產(chǎn)力。

致力于沿海的、大陸和大陸邊緣的海色遙感:儀器和協(xié)約,算法(數(shù)據(jù)縮減、大氣校正和生物光學(xué)反演),各種平臺(船載、機(jī)載、錨碇儀器、和衛(wèi)星)?,F(xiàn)在的研究主要集中在大量的河流羽狀水體對鄰近海洋的生物地球化學(xué)性質(zhì)和碳循環(huán)造成影響的量化上,并尋求確定沿岸資源管理的業(yè)務(wù)化數(shù)據(jù)產(chǎn)品的解決方法。還對各種沿岸的海洋現(xiàn)象,包括沉積羽狀物和動力學(xué)、海岸的侵蝕、異常事件、以及赤潮形成和緩解。

對大氣和海洋輻射傳遞的有全面透徹的了解;
